I'll note again how stunning is the lack of outcry from the left (both overall and from NY dems, especially). Had a Republican been accused of even a fraction of this, they'd have been mired in a media scandal this entire time. But, the Dems have mostly just seemingly been ignoring it and hoping it'd go away.
It'll be interesting (at least to me) to see what happens over the next 24 to 48 hours and who on the left finally comes out of hiding in their political closet to publicly condemn Cuomo.
A top communications manager at Facebook helped Gov. Andrew Cuomo fight sexual misconduct allegations — including by helping leak confidential files about accuser Lindsey Boylan and by participating in regular discussions about Cuomo’s communications strategy, according to the New York attorney general’s bombshell investigation.
Dani Lever — who had worked in Cuomo’s press operation since 2014 but left in August 2020 to join Facebook as a communications manager — played a key role in Cuomo’s communications strategy even while working for Facebook, according to the investigation released Tuesday.
In December 2020, former Cuomo staffer Lindsey Boylan became the first of several women to accuse the governor of sexual harassment. Hours later, Cuomo communications director Rich Azzopardi decided to send Boylan’s confidential personnel files to several journalists in what investigators called an attempt to “discredit and disparage” her.
According to the attorney general’s report, Lever helped Cuomo’s staffers disseminate the files — even though she had already been working at Facebook for months.
The smear attempt came amid Lever’s broader participation in Cuomo’s defense as part of a “team of advisors from within and outside the Chamber [who] had ongoing and regular discussions about how to respond to the allegations publicly” that also included Cuomo’s CNN host brother Chris, according to the attorney general. Lever’s name appears 25 times in the attorney general’s report.
Reached by phone, Lever told The Post she could not talk because she had to attend a meeting. Lever and Facebook’s broader press team did not immediately reply to questions sent by email, including about whether Lever had Facebook’s permission to work with the governor.
I haven't read the full report, but apparently it's chock-full of incidents, any one of which might sink a lesser-tier pol.
Among the acts of sexual misconduct described in the probe were at least one occasion where the trooper said Cuomo ran his hands down her body, issued her a kiss on the cheek in front of a colleague, and made a request she help him find a girlfriend who can “handle pain.”
“I felt...completely violated because to me, like that’s between my chest and my privates,” the trooper told investigators while describing a 2019 incident in which, the report says, Cuomo ran “his hand across her stomach, from her belly button to her right hip, while she held a door open for him at an event.”
“But, you know, I’m here to do a job,” she added.
The investigation found that Cuomo took deliberate steps to ensure the trooper was moved onto his Protective Services Unit in the first place, even though she did not have the traditionally required experience for the prestigious role.
The inciting incident: a chance meeting at an event at Robert F. Kennedy Bridge in November 2017.
“Haha they changed the minimum from 3 years to 2. Just for you,” a senior member of the trooper’s team told her in a 2017 email, along with a notice indicating her two-year service on the force was now sufficient for her to join the unit in charge of protecting Cuomo.
The more I read about these incidents, the more I see how consistent the descriptions of his behaviour are, which leaves me with little doubt that he's a serial dirtbag. I'm talking first year ballot, Hall of Fame creeper. I'm squicked out just reading what he did. I can't imagine how revolted these women felt.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation Tuesday over a barrage of sexual harassment allegations in a fall from grace a year after he was widely hailed nationally for his detailed daily briefings and leadership during some of the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Only a serious sociopath writes a bullshit book about how awesome they at handling an emergency during the emergency. Most politicians will, of course, brag and take credit about how they are handling an emergency, but it takes some brass cubas to cash in on that by writing a book.
Gotta say that I'm actually kind of surprised that he resigned. Given his obvious almost Trumpian levels of narcissism, I figured he'd remain steadfast and defiant in the face of everything, forcing the state Senate to try to remove him from office.
I'm also wondering how the lefty celebs who publicly fawned all over Cuomo as some amazing "sexy" leader are gonna react now. Seriously doubt any of them will retract or even own up to how rigorously they fellated him on TV and social media.
