“By now, you may have heard the news that on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of my inauguration as Mayor of this great City, I will be exclusively providing one-on-one interviews with journalists of color,” Lightfoot said in a letter to local media provided The Post.
“As a person of color, I have throughout my adult life done everything that I can to fight for diversity and inclusion in every institution that I have been a part of and being Mayor makes me uniquely situated to shine a spotlight on this most important issue.”
Of course, someone with a little sense tried to mitigate the damage:
A Lightfoot spokesperson later clarified that the protest only pertains to interviews about her anniversary in office.
The twitter back and forth is pretty good:
If you read through the responses, Lightfoot has a lot of defenders, all most all of whom claim she's being taken out of context, that her office is merely "prioritizing" interviews based on skin color (which is still effing stupid), but then Lightfoot comes out and says point blank that "nope, only journos of color."
“All of our major indices show a decline in our crime, and our homicides and our shootings year over year are down,” the mayor said on Friday.
A reporter asked whether “off-the-charts violent crime in the City of Chicago” is leading to business closure and what Lightfoot thinks about the notion she has “lost control of the city.”
“The premise of your question, which is it’s chaos everywhere, the fact of the matter is, sir — which you also didn’t point out, but I will so we get this straight — is we’re actually seeing a decline in homicides and shootings, yes sir,” Lightfoot replied.
A race-baiting moron and a hypocritical liar? Sounds like the perfect politician.
Given that Chicago has a black mayor, black district attorney, black chief of police, and a majority POC city council, and given her past race-baiting bullshit, I'm waiting to hear her try to blame Chicago's increased murder and crime rates and decreasing population on "white supremacy." Should be a doozy.
