After Trump, I guess it's true that anything is possible: www.cnn.com/2016/12/20/entertainment/rock-hall-of-fame-2017-inductees/index.htmlELO and Journey both made it into the Hall of Fame. I can't believe it, especially with regard to ELO. They deserve it, to be sure, but I didn't think that crowd of Velvet Underground lovers would make the choice. Equally shocking: Kraftwerk did not make the final cut. Neither did MC5. I'm beside myself, mostly with great joy.

Joan Baez is rock? I think of her as folk. I mean, I'm not dissing the woman, at all -- I just don't think of her as a rock star.

Neither do I. But she was always going in because of the crowd she ran with, her activism, and the like.

As I learned through the entire KISS sage, the rock and roll hall of fame is a joke. There's no rhyme or reason, no measurable standard. There were bands that should have made it in before KISS, and they would have and I believe did say the same thing. At the same time, there were acts like Madonna who they admire who aren't in any way, shape or form Rock and yet they made it in. And they chose to only honor the originals, even though other members had been with the band longer, while other bands they let in anyone who ever was connected.
Of course, that doesn't stop Paul Stanley from announcing KISS in in there now.
Having said that, good for ELO and Journey, both are awesome. I'll now have to listen to them on the way home.
