Oh, my god. I have no words for what a horrifying loony tune racist asshole this guy is. I remember his gubernatorial campaign...jesus. Well, judge for yourself: More at the link, if you can stomach it. It's pretty fucking unspeakable. ETA: IMO, the Trump administration should immediately denounce and separate itself permanently from Paladino. The guy, alas, is one of my hometown embarrassments. (I'm from Buffalo originally). He was always horrible, but this is just beyond the pale. The Buffalo News issued an editorial denouncing him, I'm glad to say. buffalonews.com/2016/12/23/editorial-paladinos-latest-outrageous-comments-no-place-public-discourse/

God, I remember when this douche ran for Governor. It was embarrassing. I just remember thinking, please let the democrat nominee not be such a tool. Thankfully, he wasn't, so I was able to vote.
This is the kind of stuff that's so disgusting that you feel like it's got to be made up, but no, I'd expect it from him.

it was impossible to write a thread title that came close to capturing the horror of the full text of Paladino's remark.
Apparently some Erie county executives are calling for him to be removed from the school board. (Yes, indeed he should be.)
And the Trump team did condemn the statements, so that's something:
That's from the NY Daily News article, btw.

He's on a school board.
Oh, those poor children.

At least we can be grateful Trump did not appoint him secretary of education.
But yeah -- this dude should not be within a thousand miles of a school.

...or at least not within a thousand miles of the school cafeteria.

To be fair, the Trump transition team issued a statement: But that said, in light of how outrageously terrible the remarks were, I think Trump should have said something personally. Lord knows he finds time to tweet about just about everything else. McMullin seems like a good guy who has some principles and genuinely gives a damn about his country, from everything I've heard and read. It would be nice if the future of the Republican party looked more like him and less like Trump. Paladino, by the way, has apologized for his remarks (kind of): Ah. The old "I pressed 'reply' instead of 'forward'" and "I was upset" excuses, merged. Sad. ETA: Sorry, my attempt to post quotes from my phone went wonky. I've sorta fixed it. You can read the whole thing at the link.

"I'm sorry because I was caught" does not an apology make. What a complete and utter tool (and I only say "tool" because what I really want to call him would set fire to the PG-13 rating we've got going on around here).

I suppose it would damage our PG-13 rating if I suggested setting fire to Paladino himself...
I mean, yes. The man is a tool.

Lord knows he finds time to tweet about just about everything else. I'm not impressed by a weak-ass press release any junior staffer could have crapped out in under five minutes. This is simply more typical Republican handwaving at yet another racist utterance by one of their own. No, I'm not impressed either. Given that Paladino was a prominent supporter (Trump's campaign co-chair in NY) and given how horrible the remarks were, a much stronger condemnation was called for.

His entire apology was as pathetic as he is. Even if I believe it, which I don't, it's hardly excusable that he thought it was going to be a private remark. And what the hell kind of friends does he freaking have? It's pretty sad that he thought that was even somewhat acceptable.

The only acceptable thing he could have said is "I'm a racist assshole, and I'm working on this."
