I find that part more interesting. At the risk of wandering a bit afield, I have always... not quite trusted parents. I know, sounds awful, right? I have parents! And they're great. And of course I am speaking as someone who is not a parent (and I've been told "You just can't possibly understand until you have a child yourself...")
So anyway, let's say your beloved son is accused of something horrible. Obviously you would like to believe it's not true. And it might seem unbelievable, completely unlike the child you know and love and raised. But at what point does the weight of evidence force you to accept "Yes, my child did this horrible thing"?
Obviously, some parents are literally incapable of getting to that point. I am sometimes surprised at how many parents place their children at the center of the universe and are willing to throw anyone and everyone under the bus for them.
