I am not surprised. I just don't get where the accusations of homophobia towards Trump come from. And as far as the USA, yeah - same sex marriage is here to stay. And that's a good thing.

I think it's less what he said on that issue, and more what a certain faction of his followers did.
Trump was at one time a Democrat with liberal social positions. His temperament very much concerns me (I want a cool head in the white house), but I had a hunch he wasn't actually all that interested in doing some of the things liberals fear.
Again, that would no doubt disappoint some people. But it would relieve a hell of a lot of others. Including me.

I wouldn't be shocked to hear it's also a disappointment too a certain segment of the anti Trump crowd who is just interested in stirring up trouble.
However, while Trump was extremely vocal against the LGBT community, and even spoke out against what happened in Orlando, his entire rhetoric was so divisive that he still has himself to blame. His pick of Pence wasn't helpful either. I respect Kasich for not agreeing to be his VP, but I really wish he had.
Having said that, some of the things that people have come up with, saying Trump was going to bring back slavery, or deport natural born citizens because they're not white, is making stuff up out of whole cloth.

My fondest wish is that Trump governs as a socially liberal fiscal conservative. (there's another name for people like that ) I think it's a pipe dream, given Pence and Bannon, but then I hear something like this, and I get a little hope again.
