www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/paloma/daily-202/2017/05/01/daily-202-eight-ways-trump-got-rolled-in-his-first-budget-negotiation/590687f2e9b69b3a72331f09/So. Planned Parenthood didn't get the ax. Not only will there not be extra funding for the yuuuuge wall, there are restrictions blocking it. Non-defense domestic spending did not get cut -- indeed, it will grow. The EPA won't be cut by a third -- it will be cut by 1%. Healthcare subsidies continue. And Trump only got half what he wanted for the military. No funding cuts for sanctuary cities. This doesn't look nearly as bad as I expected, overall (going by the summaries, that is -- not that I've read all 1665 pages of it!) -- which means Trump's base should be livid. Given that Republicans control both houses, I'm rather surprised they didn't push more of Trump's agenda through. What say all of you?

I say this is still crap. Our budget process has become a colossal joke and is one of the primary reasons our fiscal house is not in order.

True enough. At some point some deep cuts will have to be made. But I'm just happy we aren't pissing away a few hundred million more on a stupid wall.
