The bodies of female shop mannequins are "unrealistic", a new study in the Journal of Eating Disorders suggests.

Researchers looked at the displays in female fashion shops in two UK cities.

They concluded that if people were the same size as the mannequins they would be "considered medically unhealthy".

I'm shocked. What about the male mannequins at the Tommy Bahama store? Does this mean that when I wear shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, I don't look the same as those Apollonian-built mannequins?

Vitamin D deficient, for sure. But it's true that mannequins are unrealistically thin. Why is that? Maybe mannequins are meant to be more like human-shaped hangers. In which case they could just use hangers. No one aspires to be a hanger.
