That was a great read, Cass. Thanks for sharing. He seems like an amazing person - so much life and spirit in that little elf-like body. The comments section made me sad and is precisely the reason why stories like these need to be shared with the world.

More and more, I've been avoiding comment sections.
But the article was a pure lift for me. A great perspective from someone who has truly seen the worst of humanity and yet retains so much optimism and vitality, even at 97. Glad you enjoyed it, too.

As he says, he's a realist. In an age that both lacks the perspective of the long view (as shown by his take on gender rights) and has long forgotten the lessons of Nuremberg (as shown by his view of war) he's a breath of fresh air. Too bad he's an anachronism. We need more like him in the world.
