Poor little girl. I'm glad she's OK.
But her parents were idiots. Taking aside that (from what I understand) there are signs everywhere warning not to feed/get close to sea lions, it should be freaking common sense not to let your small child get that close to a huge wild animal. The thing had already jumped up and snapped at her once -- as her family saw. It likely meant no harm, but the fact is a wild animal that large could hurt her regardless of its intent. They should have pulled her back, not let her sit on the edge right next to the sea lion.
Hopefully, they've learned something, at least.

They actually are pretty cute. Poor little sea lion. He was probably just hungry.
(I hope this family doesn't go on safari. All kinds of adorable animals on safari. And they get hungry, too.)

I've heard of Japanese tourists at Yellowstone seating their kids on the backs of bears to take pictures.
