Wait. If I run for political office, do I get to body slam Sean Hannity?

And thus, The Rock has his 2020 campaign slogan:
"Hold My Beer"

Perhaps some exceptions are in order.

Wonder if Trump and Pence are now regretting recording robocalls for this candidate? Just imagine. As Montana voters watch the news stories on this guy assaulting a reporter, they'll be getting robocalls from the president and vice-president urging them to vote for the perp. It's just delicious.

It's Montana. Different rules apply. The reporter is lucky he's British. If he'd been French, the candidate would have been entitled to shoot him.
But I do hope this gets a lot of play in the State. Different rules don't actually apply and we certainly don't need people with this guy's temperament in public office. It will just lead to more canings...

Been watching interviews of some MN folks regarding the assault (election is today and polls close at 8:00 p.m. local time; 10:00 EST)
A couple of people said it changed their minds; they were previously "on the fence."
A whole lot more people said either the reporter was lucky he still had all of his teeth, or conversely, it was a momentary lapse of judgement and not something to really worry about.
Le sigh.

Word on the street is that Gianforte's lawyers will argue that he mistook Ben Jacobs for Charles Murray.

If he does win, he will be trolled by his fellow reps...
ETA:
crossed with Michael!
Well. That says quite a bit about Montana Republicans, I'm afraid. (Unless maybe the number of early ballots done before the incident were so overwhelmingly for Gianforte the impact of this couldn't make a difference. I'm going to hope that's true. )
I hope Gianforte gets jail time. I believe I read somewhere he can get up to 6 months.

I have to wonder what would've happened if Trump had assaulted a journalist the day before the election.

Well. That says quite a bit about Montana Republicans, I'm afraid. I think it says more about partisanship, in general. There remains a huge chunk of the voting public who votes party line, period. Doesn't matter what someone does of they're on the ballot and have an R (0r D) by their name. And really, this is doubly sad if you think about it, since that chunk of partisans is preferable to the even larger chunk who can't be bothered to vote.

This is kinda funny (it's not supposed to be): Republicans' 7-point win in last night's Montana election is great news for Democrats. "Reap the Whirlwind." Okay. And based on what? A 7-point loss in a election where the front-runner did something outrageously stupid just before the election. I know Matthew Yglesias is supposed to be "all that," but come on He didn't even mention the incident in this piece. That's rather pathetic, imo.

Trump is tweeting again! Does he regret doing robocalls for Gianforte?
Ha!
He did a whole bunch about the fake news media this morning, too. E.g.,
