Expanded laptop ban could cover half a million travelers a day. money.cnn.com/2017/05/29/news/laptop-ban-us-flights/yeah. We might as well hang up a sign saying "DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH COMPANIES IN THE U.S." Take aside for a moment that a lot of people do work on international flights. (That's actually a big deal when you consider how long international flights are, plus all the time at the airport. Fly to Asia or Australia, and you are losing a day in travel time. ) There's also the fact that insurance won't cover a laptop in a checked bag. And there's the fact that even if it did, laptops tend to contain sensitive info you can't risk being stolen. And then there's the fact that an exploding laptop in a checked bag could bring down a plane just as easily as one a passenger carries on. I also question whether any explosive they can rig for a laptop might not also be rigged for a smartphone, which passengers would still be allowed to carry on. This is a terrible idea that would torpedo international business travel to and from the U.S., impacting all kinds of businesses. There must be a better way.

Oh man, I would hate this.
Not so much because I need to work on my laptop when I fly, but I have too much invested in my laptop to feel comfortable checking it.
This part caught my attention:
I wouldn't doubt that's the case. But that's also not every flight coming into or leaving the US. The last time I flew internationally, it was an Asiana flight that was probably 80 percent Korean, I'd say.
And if the TSA is so great at what they do, why the need to ban laptops on flights going out of the country? They're basically admitting they don't think they can tell if a laptop has a bomb in it. Very reassuring.
And if you're on a domestic flight, I guess no big deal? LOL.
