Notice these clowns always say, "I think" and "I feel" and "I believe" but they almost never say "I know" or "the evidence clearly shows."
There really needs to be an IQ/aptitude entrance exam that one must pass to hold political office.

Or just fewer batshit crazy people.
This guy could be the guy in the science version of a chick tract:
*imminent destruction of planet Earth*
"But wait! Can't I change my mind? I didn't believe in climate change before, but I do now! I'm so sorry!!"
*everyone dies anyway*

I don't care if your believe in God or not, just have an IQ slightly higher that a moldy sponge that was used to clean up taco sauce and left in the sink overnight. As long as you work towards making things better, I don't care if you refuse to pray, pray to Jesus, Mohamed, or Covfefe.

My objection is to politicians blithely doing things with potentially catastrophic consequences on the theory that it doesn't particularly matter if we muck them up because God will fix them.
That's not the way we should be making policy.
Nor, of course, do I want politicians putting their religious beliefs into policy.
Other than that, I do not care whether or if or whom or what they worship -- though worshipping Covfefe could turn into a thing.

Awesome.
Maybe we can cut our military budget now. If we get invaded, god will protect us.

Can we expect that God will take whatever is needed from our paychecks, and stop paying taxes?

By the power and grace of Covfefe, it shall be so.
Sooner or later, this Covfefe stuff is gonna get old, but today is not that day.

Awesome. Maybe we can cut our military budget now. If we get invaded, god will protect us. Exactly. This is an ideology that has zero to do with a belief in god. Kinda like ISIS. Lots of people believe in a god but manage to not be morons about it. If there is a god, he gave us all brains for a reason, ffs.

Actually, it's "kinda NOT like ISIS." ISIS absolutely follows an ideology that has 100% to do with their belief in Allah and what they think Allah wants: www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/03/what-isis-really-wants/384980/Yes, because their god beliefs are different. That does not in any way imply that the fundamentalist morons aren't driven by their own, different god beliefs.

If you think that "belief in a god" is the problem, I'd point to all those "regressive liberals" you despise so much.

If you think that "belief in a god" is the problem, I'd point to all those "regressive liberals" you despise so much. That's just a game of semantic hair-splitting. ISIS follows a specific ideology based on a specific set of beliefs in a specific god. Your original statement implied that ISIS followed an ideology that has "zero" to do with a belief in a god. That is patently false and I provided evidence to that (which is in addition to things they have actually said and done, where they specifically attribute their actions to their religious beliefs). Ideologies, by definition, have a focus on a set of beliefs/ideals. The focus of ISIS's ideology is religious, specifically radical Islam, upon which a belief in a specific god (Allah) and his supposed teaching (through Mohammed) is fundamental to the entire ideology. And, "inherent belief in god" doesn't really make sense in that sentence. Perhaps you meant a "general belief in god" or "belief in god, in general." If that was what was intended, then I would agree. Belief in a supernatural god, in general, does not necessarily imply a dangerous or otherwise fundamental set of beliefs. However, as history (and the present) clearly shows, beliefs in specific gods and those god's supposed teachings can lead to quite destructive, barbaric behavior.

Your original statement implied that ISIS followed an ideology that has "zero" to do with a belief in a god. ISIS follows a specific ideology based on a specific set of beliefs, in a "specific god" who happens to have the same name as the one that over a billion other people believe in, but who don't do or approve of the shit that ISIS does. It's not because ISIS believes in a god, it's because of what they believe, period. It's ideology. It's not hair-splitting. It's a crucially relevant difference. Your evidence is an opinion article from the Atlantic, but okay. Again, extreme ideology. Just because a god is involved doesn't make it "belief in a god" that's the problem. Kewl. Sure. And beliefs in "specific gods" (the same ones, usually) also lead to quite positive, generous, humanitarian behavior. I wonder what the difference is...
