Really liked this piece. www.nationalreview.com/article/448622/trump-defenders-bill-clinton-enablersDavid French savages some sacred cows of both the left and the right. And he has a point, IMO. The in-party loyalty gained from winning elections can be-and is--exploited to the point where mere partisans become uncritical sycophants (see Trump's recent cabinet meeting, for example). And both the dems and repubs have been too short-sighted to see the cliff where that leads to, ultimately. Thoughts?

There are no principles any more. All that matters is winning, so that your bullies are the ones who control the schoolyard and the spoils of victory line your cronies pockets. A government so divided can not long endure. The only question is what society becomes after; a rebirth of the Enlightenment or a repeat of the Dark Ages. Odds seem to favor the latter. Collectivism and mysticism seem to hold sway over rationality and personal choice.
