"I know, shoot me in the chest with a 50 caliber Desert Eagle! I'll use a book to stop the bullet and it will be cool!" www.cnn.com/2017/06/29/us/fatal-youtube-stunt/index.htmlShe's been charged with manslaughter. And FYI, she's pregnant with their second child. As deeply stupid as they were, as this stunt was, it's also deeply sad imo, both from the perspective of them being so young and having kids and from the perspective of this need so many people have to be noticed on the internet. I realize many believe that they might make some money and/or become famous, leading to bigger and better things, but that's more of a pipe dream than that of thinking you'll grow up to be President, to be the next Lebron James, or the next Tom Cruise.

I'd like to call him a Darwin Award winner, except unfortunately he managed to pass his genes on before he died.
Yes, I know that's cruel, and it's very sad. But people that stupid seriously should not breed.

What made these idiots think that a book would stop a Desert Eagle?
"DOD approves multi-million dollar grant to local library to fund manufacture of body armor from old copies of "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.""

A .45 round will go through an engine block. I don't know when or how this idiot stopped a .50 caliber slug with a book, but that was an anomaly. Unless there is more to this story, he was (sadly, literally) too stupid to live.

"how this idiot stopped a .50 caliber slug with a book" - I think that's the point, he didn't think to try that out (shooting at the book with something behind it that wouldn't get hurt by a bullet going into it) beforehand.

In a celebrity-crazed society where reality TV "stars" engage in tasteless acts of cultural appropriation and elevate lying and misogyny to an art form, everyone with a webcam can be a *STAR* and there's no faster path to fame than doing something and posting it on YouTube. How much do you want to bet the ghouls flocked to YouTube hoping to see Monalisa Perez put a bullet in Pedro Ruiz's chest? When I wanted to learn more about what bourbons I should be trying, I went to YouTube and watched some videos. When squirrels started getting into my plants, the guy at Lowe's suggested going to YouTube to find a video on home remedies to discourage the little critters. When I want to get a laugh from a movie critic ripping the shit out of pure drek like "Fifty Shades Darker" I'll pull up a YouTube video. And why not? If it exists it's on the Internet and if you want to see it, YouTube probably has it. Everybody wants to be in show business. Even if you have no discernible talent. That's a pretty dumb reason to die for, but people have died for dumber reasons. So, I won't say I don't understand why a young couple who led a pretty uninteresting life were looking for a way to get more views, subscriptions and likes of their videos. It's not what I would do, but then I don't find the mundane details of my life all that fascinating and therefore don't believe anyone else would either. Others feel differently and they want to share their lives with the whole world. Even if it kills them.
