So incredibly premature. Or, more likely, it'll fail miserably and give Trump & co. something else to rally the base around.

I agree it's totally premature, and given that, a really bad move IMO -- one that could backfire miserably. As a Trump loather myself, one who finds his incompetence, instability, and corruption terrifying, I understand their anxiety to get the guy out of office. But given that impeachment is a political remedy, we're not gonna get impeachment unless either we get a Democrat majority in Congress or Trump's "crimes and misdemeaners" are so unmistakable, undeniable, and unignorable a significant number of Republicans are forced to agree impeachment is the only answer. We are not there. Since I think we actually do stand a chance of getting there eventually (because I believe we've only seen the tip of a very large iceberg), I don't think we need a damn "warning." Let the media, the prospect of Mueller, and the protests be a "warning." A good article from the conservative perspective on Russia-a-lago and impeachment at the National Review (from the intelligent conservative perspective, as opposed to the Breitbart/Fox perspective). My take: when conservatives of the National Review ilk are ready to go for impeachment, it will be time. As it stands, they are only at, "yes, this is disgraceful, and it could reach that level, but it's not there yet." Impeaching the president is no trivial thing. It's just too soon to do this. And I say that as someone who fervently would like to see him gone. ETA: We do need to remember that as of yet, a startling portion of the country doesn't know crap about Russia-a-lago. mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN19X2TN It is early days. I mean, we'll never get everyone on board, but we need more than we have if we're actually going to succeed.

I agree with you on all points.
I feel dirty now.
I need to go set something on fire.

But you always want to set something on fire.
