When I saw this earlier, I was wondering if he posted it before or after the news reports came out. As in, was he officially charged and then he made/released this vid, or was it a really, really unfortunate coincidence?
Either way, the charges against him are grotesque but if this vid was released as a response to the charges, then that takes his detached-from-reality creepiness to a whole new disturbing level.

I can't understand why he'd release this. It doesn't make him more sympathetic, or help his case.

That video is just odd. Absent of news it would seem to be a possible announcement of his character's return, but yeah....odd. At best.

It can be so hard to tell sometimes -- "am I in a relationship with this person or just creeping on them?"

To note, the photo of Carroll and Trump standing next to each other appears in the very magazine article that Trump is trying to repudiate by denying he ever met her.
Carroll told two friends about the rape at the time. One urged her to go to the police, the other advised her against it, citing Trump's army of lawyers. Both women confirmed this to NY Magazine.

Thread about all the women who have stepped forward to accuse Trump of sexuak assault:
George Conway's comment on the thread is apt:

For so many reasons, there is not a candidate in the field who isn't a better alternative than four more years of this guy. There isn't one who has issues in any particular area where Trump isn't much worse. Lying? Trump is much worse. MeToo issues? Trump is much, much worse. Ugly behavior? Trump is much worse. Erratic decision making? Way worse. Grifting, cozying up to dictators? Way, way worse. That's why I'll drag myself over broken glass to vote for whoever is most likely to beat him (and then you can bet your ass I'll spend four years holding that person accountable, not excusing them, if they fall short of the mark--as should we all).
George Conway et al. are perfectly correct -- Trump is a predator. He has always been a predator. He's proud of being a predator. The stories about this waaaayyyy precede his political run -- indeed, he's bragged about it openly. (Even on video -- see the Access Hollywood tape.) Maybe non-New Yorkers were less aware of those issues than we New Yorkers were, prior to his political run. But they shouldn't be unaware of it now. Come on. Come on. This alone should be a reason to vote the fucker out.
He's our Douchebag-in-Chief. He's an encouragement and a role model for every predator out there. He needs to go. And unlike the infinitely less egregious Al Franken, he will not go voluntarily.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

I think I speak for everyone in this forum when I say that one of the repeated problems we've had with you Cass is your inability to be clear on where you stand on certain things. So enough with wishy-washy posts that are full of ambiguous statements that hide where you stand. Speak plainly. Do you plan on voting for Trump or not?
Hmmmmm?

I think it's unfortunate that Carroll chose to share this story now, as a preface to the release of her book. I think it's especially unfortunate that Carroll is who she is: a writer and media personality whose career has revolved around feminism and the empowerment of women.
I can believe her story, no doubt. In fact, the way she tells it--with her laughing through most of it--makes it seem real to me, because I think that people do not all react the same way to sexual assault.
Yet...I can also believe differently, from the event not happening the way she tells it to it not happening at all.
I know she says she's a "coward" in the article, yet she's releasing a book wherein she accuses a number of powerful men--it would seem--of sexually assaulting her. And I think some of her past articles and books hardly seem to be the product of someone who is cowardly. Exactly the opposite.
And I admit that what bugs me the most about her story is the timing. I mean, she supposedly has corroboration. If it's strong, why not come forward much earlier? Why not bust out on Moonves when he was in the news? Why not reveal some of this during the days of Weinstein? The timing seems, well, carefully planned to be in a moment where there aren't other big names being accused of such things, in a moment that will get her maximum attention.
That said, Trump's response was awful, tasteless, and crass, even if the allegation was 100% false, particularly the "not my type" bit. I'd argue, in fact, that Carroll was 100% his type: beauty queen, cheerleader, etc. Which of course makes me believe her more than him.
