Kind of gives ammo (pun intended) to those who oppose incremental regulations because they know that the endgame is repealing the 2nd Amendment.

Wait, that doesn't make sense to me. A ban on bump stocks and/or a ban on semi-automatic rifles would've stopped this, no?

In context, maybe she meant the gunman was a sick individual who'd given no previous warning signs, so regardless of laws, he'd still have ended up killing a lot of people?
That said, as much as I am a 2nd Amendment supporter, I can't really get worked up about a ban on bump stocks (semi-automatic rifles is another matter). Bump stocks are a novelty item designed to provide a "technically legal" way to circumvent laws against fully automatic weapons.
