I love Poland. Clearly I need to go back to Wroclaw. When I was there some years ago, there were not nearly so many of these statues. It's a pretty city to begin with, but these seems like a delightful addition. And I like that they're symbols of resistance to oppression -- but fun symbols.
One of the cool things about traveling to many of the former Iron Curtain countries is seeing how people and their resistance coped with Soviet rule. The cheeky thing is a common thread -- dark wit and a sense of the absurd seemed to flourish and get them through the genuine grimness (and sometimes downright horror) of daily life.
