Hey, I'll be out of pocket most of today drinking wine, but wanted to check in to say this: if you haven't yet listened to or read Obama's and W.'s recent speeches taking down Trump and Trump-era populism, do. If I get a chance this morning before I go (am scrambling to do some last minute work), I'll find links and post them. Both speeches were excellent; I think Bush's was the best he ever gave (and the harsher of the two). www.nytimes.com/2017/10/19/us/politics/george-bush-trump.htmlMcCain also gave a stunning speech on this topic recently, while accepting an award at the Constitution Center, but Bush's and Obama's were notable not just because they were excellent, but because by and large, presidents shy away from criticizing their predecessors once the campaign is over, and there's no question that these speeches are doing that.

Remember when GWB was the most dumbest, cruelist, most ignorant President ever? Trump continues to do a fine job of rehabilitating ex-Presidents by making everyone short of Hitler look good in comparison.

From The Onion:
“To be fair, any condemnation of the worst parts of human nature is going to read as a veiled criticism of Trump.”

From The Onion: “To be fair, any condemnation of the worst parts of human nature is going to read as a veiled criticism of Trump.” Parody or no, I found it both revealing and troubling to see many people online interpret the #MeToo campaign as a left-wing thing: as if being in favor of believing rape and harassment victims - or believing women in general - somehow equated to being anti-Trump. As if.

I enjoyed listening to some loyal Trump supporters trying to say that Bush wasn't actually criticizing Trump at all, but was actually entirely about criticizing Democrats and the left.
Um, yeah, no, it pretty obviously wasn't. Which is clear not only from the content of the speech, but also the context.
I guess they gave up trying to claim this about McCain's and Flake's speeches...

It's another one of those things that most women, whether they want to post their #metoo story or not, can relate to, however they voted.
