If you're a serious news org, you should use words correctly, no? An article at Newsweek: IVANKA TRUMP PLAGIARIZES ONE OF HER OWN SPEECHES IN INDIA
Read the article, can't seem to find any of the so-called plagiarism that was promised in the headline. I can't help but wonder if Newsweek called out Obama for plagiarism every time he used the phrase "punches above its weight" when making speeches? I'm guessing the answer would be "no," which is fair because that wasn't plagiarism. And nothing Ivanka is doing appears to be plagiarism, either. And everyone with a clue can see this, so what's the upshot of Newsweek's ill-conceived headline? More ammo for Trump's merry band of twitter trolls. Super.

I do not understand how one can plagiarize oneself.
I mean it's her words, thoughts, whatever repeated once more. If we can't repeat a phrasal idea we've come up with ourselves, if it works, then nothing works.

Only area that I know where self-plagiarism isn't allowed is in scientific publications. I totally understand it in that context, but who cares if someone plagiarizes their own speech? And what's with the petty "poorly attended" jab at her last speech?
If someone gives a good speech (and, no, I don't think that applies to Ivanka), then I don't see any harm in repeating parts of it. Comedians do it all the time when they go on tour; they tell the same jokes every night.
'Tis a big nothin' burger.

Is there any other size for a nothing burger?
But yeah, I agree. There might be areas where self-plagiarism presents a problem, not just in science but anytime a speaker or author is claiming to be presenting completely original material. But in this particular case, I don't see the issue.
BTW, the headline has been updated now. Maybe the editor is reading the Colline Gate?

Lol. And "recycles" is very hip. I think it's part of Ivanka's plan to fight climate change.
