I'm going to drop into that party. I'm baking some cookies right now to bring.
The kid may hate my guts (probably does), but that was really well done. And the dad is getting big parenting points from me. It's one thing to yell at the kid and punish him for an unauthorized party. It's another to get the kid to come over with that apology (and without Dad standing right there to see that he did it properly).

It turns out my neighbor is in a church choir. Who knew? Anyway, the whole choir was at the party. I just spent the last two hours singing carols. It was actually fun.
Of course, now I'm back huddled in my apartment. It's not Sunday if I'm not in my pajamas by 9 pm. #partygirl

Of course, now I'm back huddled in my apartment. It's not Sunday if I'm not in my pajamas by 9 pm. #partygirl How did Junior behave? He was actually okay. A little awkward but not sullen. The dad did something right in that conversation, for serious. I complimented the kid on his piano playing (he's genuinely good). And I took the dad aside to tell him that the kid did a first rate job apologizing, and that I give them both a lot of credit for that. (A lot of adults never master a decent apology...see, e.g., most of our politicians.) Heh. It turns out another neighbor also complained about the kid's party, but was a much bigger asshole about it. Also, he was nasty to the kid when he apologized--actually swore at him. Not too surprising, since the neighbor in question is not exactly friendly. I mean, I was pissed off the night of the party, too, but even if I'd still been pissed off, I couldn't have stayed pissed off after the kid apologized. 1, he's a kid. 2, it really was a good apology. A 10/10. Needless to say, that neighbor did not come sing carols with us. Oh, and everyone liked my cookies.

Evangelicals? Did they invite you to a political rally?

1. I love your holiday avie. B. they did not invite me to a political rally. But if they had invited me to a political rally, well, these are New York City Christians. One was wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt. A couple were expressing disgust over the tax plan and worrying about Mueller getting fired. I think if they rally, I'll likely be glad to rally with them. iii. They did invite me to come to a church service to hear the choir sing something they actually rehearsed.

I watched a movie last night about the Von-trappe family. It was appalling.
First they sung about hills alive with the sound of moose *icks.
Then they sung about whipping on kittens.
Even worse...
Anal vises.
Gah! What kind of medieval Von-trappetion is that?

Not to mention tying up their packages with string.
And they let CHILDREN watch that movie.

On the plus side, no chihuahuas or dead batteries.

Surely no one could be so depraved as to include a chihuahua or a dead battery in a movie children might see.

I am saddened. By the dead Chihuahua part. Not the dead battery part.

Usually when that happens, we just have Angie torch the place.

I have a shovel and I dug a nice hole. Haggis, can you climb in to see if it's deep enough?
