I did clean my drinks cabinet last Sunday. I am both alarmed about the amount of bottles I have in, and also alarmed that most of them are unopened. I buy something, put it in the cabinet, and then three years later I have to rub dust and grime off to see the label. Then I remember I had it. I'm like that with liqueurs. I buy them for a party or some special occasion, and never think to use them. Then I'm all "when the heck did I buy Benedictine?" When I'm not having people over for cocktails, the only things I'm likely to drink on my own are scotch, bourbon, or wine. Maybe cognac in the winter (I can't explain why it is I only want cognac in the winter, but I never think to drink it otherwise).

This is what happens when you have daddy issues, and when you spend the time you should have been preparing for the summit, golfing. Trump will do what he often does when he screws up — he will walk things back. And fortunately both Repubs and Dems are united on this subject. And Trump’s administration is still imposing tough sanctions etc. so yeah, it’s the low point in his presidency for sure, but I’m hopeful he will take steps to undo the damage.

Tsk tsk. Apparently Putin doesn't abide by the whole "what happens in Helsinki stays in Helsinki" thing.

Trump IS a stable genius.
He saw how divided the country was and took steps to start the healing, despite great personal loss and ridicule.
Seriously, when was the last time the term "bipartisan" was used in American politics? I've seen it mentioned several times over the last couple of days.
Trump is a uniter!

Yes, united in thinking Trump is an idiot, a traitor, and a danger to the nation! And all we had to sacrifice to reach this beautiful moment is our country's dignity, our standing as leader of the free world, our allies, our security, and quite probably some state secrets and the stability of the western world!
Here, Imma go hug Bob Corker.

But hey, I'm sure now that even Republicans are up in arms, outraged about his kissing Putin's ass and selling out the country, Trump has learned his lesson and will do his very best to try to undo some of the damage...oh.

Here is my prediction, for what it's worth. I hope I'm wrong.
Trump does some ridiculous transparent backtracking (e.g., "did I say would? I meant "wouldn't"! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!") but ultimately doubles down. Democrats scream. A couple of the reliable Republican Trump critics join them. Initially, lots of the usual suspect Republicans wring their hands and say they are disturbed. But then McConnell and Ryan circle the wagons and Congress does...nothing. About Trump, that is. Gowdy et al. continue to pursue Hillary Clinton's emails and do their damndest to undermine Mueller and Rosenstein (with, of course, Trump's full-throated assistance).
(Why? For some, it's judges and taxes, but for others, it's because they are as compromised/corrupt as Trump himself, and the nation is not their first priority.)
It would be awesome if the Flakes and Corkers worked with the Dems to contain this President. But I don't think they will. And I'm damn certain Trump will continue to make things worse. The only thing that fixes this is midterm elections, if enough Democrats get in to make a majority.
I just hope it happens, and it's not too late. This isn't about policy for me, at all. I truly think the president is compromised and an idiot and the nation is in very dangerous waters.

Trump supporters claim the world respects us more, but as far as I can tell, everyone respects us far less than they did before Trump took office. All that effort kissing Putin's ass, but the Russians don't respect Donald Trump any more than our allies do:
...and who can blame them, frankly.

Y'all know, by the way, that Putin wants Trump to turn over American citizens to Russia, in exchange for the Russians Mueller indicted?
What did Trump say? What did Trump promise him? You can bet Russian intelligence is all over it by this time, and Putin may well have a tape.

Sure, Putin may have a tape. Sure, Trump made a fool out of himself (again) and embarrassed the office and the entire country (what else is new?). His pathetic attempts to walk stuff back are...pathetic. And I don't know how anyone could possibly think he's fit to be President after this (though the fix still remains the ballot box).
But a few things:
1) Trump isn't going to turn over any Americans to Russia and I seriously doubt that Mueller's indictments will lead anywhere.
2) I've had it up to here (*puts hand over head*) with the politcos and know-nothings who have absolute zero consistency, when it comes to international relations and labels like "ally,"enemy," and so forth. For example, Bush (both, actually) caught so much heat from the left for being nice to the Saudis, not to mention the Dubai Ports World nonsense. Obama caught plenty from the right for making deals with Iran. All three of them cut Pakistan an awful lot of slack in various moments. When it comes to Russia, both sides turn on a dime. I mean seriously, if Russia is an outright enemy, WTF were we doing in allowing them to buy Uranium One? On what planet would a competent state department approve such a sale to a country that is considered to be an enemy--or at least not a friendly--power?
3) If Russia is, let us say, "unfriendly," then why are we selling it US treasuries hand over fist? Hell, why are we selling them to China? (hint: we don't care, as long as we can Netflix and chill)
4) IMO, we effed up royally in not supporting Chechnya. But of course in those days, Russia was a supposed ally, mostly it would seem because Clinton and Yeltsin were buddies.
For my money, Russia remains a foe in global politics since the Soviet Union fell and it should always be treated as such. Ditto for China. And double ditto for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, who should have been targets two and three, respectively, in the aftermath of 9-11 (following Afghanistan).
