Saw this thread on Twitter (read all 8 or 9 follow up tweets for the whole story). I'm sure the leftist goons will still say "nO sUcH tHiNg As CaNcEl CuLtUrE" while also saying "he got what he deserved" at the same time.

Yeah, the leftists are pretty much proving the point of the letter. What's also a bit funny (in that hypocritical bullshit kind of way) is some of the responses I've seen on Twitter (ugh, why do I keep going on that trash site) whining that the people in the letter calling for freedom of speech and an end to cancel culture are in "positions of power" to where they aren't in danger of getting canceled or having their speech silenced, so what is the point of them writing the letter?
Uh...I wonder if any of those deranged, mouth-breathing leftists are also denouncing all the people who are non-black and/or have never experienced "anti-black racism" in their lives for speaking up for BLM and equality and against police violence, etc. Since, you know, those people aren't in danger of ever experiencing anti-black racism or racially bigoted police violence.

In overall intelligence, knowledge of policy, ability to articulate a clear vision and plan for America, Trump would lose if he debated a fire-hydrant that was getting peed on by a doberman. But he knows how to stir up his base. What Biden has to lose is if he's seen as being nothing more than a senile old man who has lost his marbles. Trump doesn't have to worry about that as he never had any. Agreed. I'm worried that in nationally televised debates, Trump will mop the floor with Biden in terms of performativity, even if he loses miserably in terms of substance. All he'll need to do is mercilessly mock Biden for 2 hours each time. Even if he never puts forth a coherent policy or message, he could wind up painting a clear picture of Biden as a senile old fool who can't keep up. That's one reason I think it was wise of Biden to limit their debates to 3. His handlers will probably need to pump him full of meds and amphetamines before he goes out there to ensure he's as cognitively sharp as possible.

Ugh, that's almost disturbing.
"Barely There Biden" is a clever (if not mean-spirited) name, though, that will likely play well with Trump's base if they choose to push it. Works better than "Sleepy Joe."

It so obvious. I mean, look at how the bridges in the picture are so obviously manspreading...er...bridgespreading all over the river bank.

Well, I'm shocked.
Shocked, I say!
"Never meant to mislead the public."
I'm not sure he understands the definition of lying and why people think it's bad.

He's missed the deadline to appear on the ballot in several states already. Shocking as it may seem, Kanye's tweet was likely just another desperate cry for attention.

At the same time, there's no effing reason to have a crowd essentially partying on an interstate at 1:40 in the goddamn morning. There just isn't. And the Seattle police--for allowing such nonsense--deserve some heat, as well. Agreed. I'll never understand why the cops, in any city, allow protesters/mobs to take over public roads and highways. If people wanna get a permit and march down to city hall and protest something, fine. More power to you. But once they step out onto a public street and take it over illegally, it's hard for me to feel too much sympathy for them when they get hit by a car. When it happens, it's of course horrible and a tragedy for their families, but it also would've never happened had they not been acting like idiots by illegally taking over a public road/highway in the first place. And the cops are stupid for allowing it. Everyone involved in this situation - driver, protestors, and cops - are complicit in this death and injury. It's all of their faults.

Commandments of the Woke Gospel: Racism is bad, unless it's against whites because, bruh, white supremacy or something. Religious bigotry is bad, unless it's against Christians or Jews because, bruh, white supremacy or something. Sexism is bad, unless it's against men because, bruh, white male patriarchy or something.

Taibbi takes on White Fragility: taibbi.substack.com/p/on-white-fragilityGood stuff. Tangent: You know, I've always read Taibbi's stuff. Haven't always agreed with his opinions, to be sure, but generally presents them fairly, imo. Right now, he's one of the few commentators who is anything close to even-handed, imo. And he's getting a lot of new fans because of this, especially from the Right. Though I can't help but wonder what's gonna happen a year (or much sooner) from now, when all of his new fans realize he's he's just not all that conservative... From Taibbi: "DiAngelo isn’t the first person to make a buck pushing tricked-up pseudo-intellectual horseshit as corporate wisdom, but she might be the first to do it selling Hitlerian race theory. White Fragility has a simple message: there is no such thing as a universal human experience, and we are defined not by our individual personalities or moral choices, but only by our racial category."Nailed it. Also: "DiAngelo writes like a person who was put in timeout as a child for speaking clearly."LOL!

I've also noticed that the Republicans in the US have stupidly politicized this issue, turning it into just another weapon to try to cudgel the Dems with. It's a completely different mentality than what we have up here in Canada. The conservative Premiers, most of whom strongly oppose Trudeau and the Liberals, have pretty much all strongly supported the Trudeau government's approach to this and have presented a nationwide united effort against COVID-19.
Even Doug Ford, who is somewhat Trumpian in his brash conservatism, has been all over this from nearly the start, implementing lockdowns, encouraging masks, etc.
Threats to public health and safety aren't usually weaponized political issues up here, as it should be for anyone who's not a shit-for-brains troglodyte.

So ignorant. In my zealous defenses of Florida, one thing that I'll admit I sometimes forget is that South Florida--especially Miami-Dade--is quite different than the rest of the State. Agreed. I lived in West Florida for several years, and traveled all over Florida during that time, which is why I was confident that your overconfidence was sorely misplaced. Could be because with 18 million fewer people than California, Florida's recent surge has been measurably larger (e.g., peak of a little over 7,000 one day this week for California, then back down to between 5,000 to 6,000, whereas Florida has hit 9000+ two or three days in a row and it seems to be rising). "I'm not poor, therefore poverty doesn't exist."
