I've seen a clip circulating online that looks like Mayweather dazed Paul and then held him up until his head cleared.
It amazes me some people actually believed Paul had a shot. Fact is, despite the size disadvantage, Mayweather could have ended the fight any time he wanted.
Reports say Mayweather is going to pocket upwards of $100 million for this.
As gifted and talented as Mayweather is as a boxer, those skills pale in comparison to his business sense.

I wasn't aware a person picked up depression, like a common cold, from random events. I dunno, I'm not an expert on depression. But if someone says they suffer from it, I tend to be fine w/ accepting it, unless there's some clear reason not to. (In any case, while a tennis tournament is certainly a random event for me personally, I can see how it might be a lot more than that for a pro tennis player.) I'm far from an expert myself, but I do have several family members that suffer depression. It seems to run in the female side of my wife's family and my daughter has it. Just my opinion, but I see Osaka's sudden claims of mental health issues as self-serving. When she upsets Serena Williams and is the darling of the tennis world, she's fine and has no issues. When there is something that makes her a little uncomfortable, she suddenly "catches" depression. If she truly has mental health issues that effect her that much then she needs to completely step away from the limelight and get treatment. Again, just my view, but her sudden bout of mental health is akin to Chrissy Teigan's sudden need to depart twitter, meaning it reeks of attention seeking behavior and professional victim-hood. And it dishonors the millions that truly suffer from mental illness.

I think Opty summed it up very well. I took her to be saying almost the opposite, though. From the NYT article: According to her, the depression was initially tennis-related, not media-related. But I think perhaps she sees a connection, insofar as the media stuff might exacerbate the issues she's been dealing with. I wasn't aware a person picked up depression, like a common cold, from random events.

She expects people to believe that the thousands of hours of grueling practice, losses, injuries, and tremendous pressure of performing at the level of the world's elite athletes is fine, especially with the millions of riches and fame that follow, but one reasonable question from a reporter after a loss can cause some sort of clinically depressed psychotic break. I think Opty summed it up very well.

I think its probably a pretty accurate guess. Some "micro-aggression" brought about a "macro-aggression" response.

At least he didn't do something serious, like mis-gendering someone.

So, recently Rand Paul has caused a bit of controversy (shocking, I know) by refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine. www.foxnews.com/politics/rand-paul-refusing-to-get-vaccinated-because-he-already-had-covid-19His reasoning: Now Rand Paul isn't someone even my right-leaning ass agrees with very often, but in this case I'm 100% in agreement. Putting aside all the basic "his body, his choice" arguments, he's spot on about the numbers and severity of illness when it comes to re-infection. As far as I've been able to find, people who have had COVID-19 and been re-infected are very similar to those who have a breakthrough infection after vaccination. They don't get very sick, if at all, and their viral loads are so low the risk of them infecting other people is minimal. Now that I've agreed with Rand Paul, I feel kind of dirty.

Just to be clear, I don't object to Biden using the weight of his office to try to sway another nation to his agenda and the overall US goals for foreign policy. I think a good President does that.
But to make such a statement public. God, what a screw up. Such a statement being public essentially guarantees no de-escalation for at least a few days.
By all means, use the bully pulpit and the power of the office, but for God's sake, leave your ally room to do what you want and save face while doing it.
