That's legalese for "calm your tits, assholes."

It's official! Sinema wins the Arizona Senate race! McSally put out a very gracious concession video on Twitter. I didn't like her as a candidate. However, she behaved well in defeat and while the count was pending, which I think is something to be appreciated these days. I must admit I think better of her now than I did during the campaign. Trump and the RNC wanted her to jump on the voter fraud conspiracy bandwagon, and she refused. She gets points from me for that, for sure. Also, she has a cute dog. My hat is off generally to Arizona this past week or so.

Kirsten Sinema put out a very nice victory speech on Twitter, too. Very bipartisan and uniting in spirit; she invoked John McCain, which I think was very appropriate. Meghan McCain retweeted it. (I think, based on her twitter feed, that she may have been supporting Sinema!)

And more Arizona graciousness.
Y'all can roll your eyes at me all you like. They did this right in Arizona. Both parties should take note on how Arizona officials handled this. I especially admire it because they actually had to defy the national Republican party to do it. A real palate cleanser.

Broward started its recount twenty minutes ago:
That gives them roughly 52 hours to finish. Shameful.

When Senator-Elect Sinema takes her seat next January, it will be interesting to see how well she works with Chucky Schumer. If she holds true to how she ran, Sinema will not be a lock to side with the Democrats against Trump and the GOP. In a decidedly purple state, Sinema is best served for the voters of Arizona to be a middle of the road moderate instead of a bomb throwing Lefty. I'm listening to McCain's audiobook, The Restless Wave and I bet Sinema has too. By the way, she may be joined in the Senate by Martha McSally anyway. If McCain's replacement, Jon Kyl steps away and he has made noises he plans to do so, the governor may appoint McSally to fill the position and she would serve out the remainder of McCain's term until 2020. Some folks don't feel that's an honor McSally deserves.

I have never been happier to live in NYC than I have the last two years. Still, it was pleasant to see a close race in Arizona resist the ugliness in Florida.

The race was hardly "unugly" in Arizona. True, it hasn't suffered the same fate after election night as the race(s) in Florida, but that's largely on the incompetence of a couple of counties in Florida. And actually, I think it's kind of unfair to compare the two situations.
Arizona's process of counting votes is what it is, and it has always taken longer. The big difference this time is the fact that it was a really close race with increased turnout (thus preventing an election night call, as is usually the case). Both sides pretty much expected this, going in to the election. It's really just business as usual, nothing more. They're not dealing with scandalous actions and screw-ups in Arizona.
In contrast, Florida delivers results much faster, on par with many other States. The ugliness following election night is a consequence of Broward County--and to a lesser extent Palm Beach County--of FUCKING UP ROYALLY. From not following simple laws to failing to properly handle ballots, this has been a case study of how not to run an election at the county level. And it's continuing. It's likely that the recount won't be done in time in Broward and Palm Beach, and if that happens the law requires the Florida Sec. of State to certify the election based on the original results in both counties. And if THAT happens, there will be people on the Dem side screaming bloody murder about "counting every vote" and the like, contrasted to people on the Repub side screaming about "follow the law."

Speaking of ugliness, you must have missed the Sinema/McSally debate last month. There was plenty of ugliness in the Arizona Senate race as much as there was in the Florida gubernatorial race. Just a lot less racism.

Miami-Dade County has finished its machine recount. In the process, they've identified a fair chunk of over/under ballots, quite a few of which actually involve the Commissioner of Agriculture race (the closest of the three in the recount). But generally, there's not too much that changes from a manual recount of these ballots (assuming a manual recount happens).
