I'd prefer Michael to John.
Seriously.
He might sing us into a war, I dunno. At least with him there'd be a chance we'd avoid WW III.

Apparently John Bolton is to be Deputy SoS or something along those lines.
If you're of draft age, I'd suggest shooting yourself in the foot; avoid the rush.

On the plus side, we may have a larger supply of caviar and nesting dolls available over the next four years.

Haggis, why didn't you tell me that before? I would've had you googling waaaayyy more things.
Have a pirozhki or perhaps a vatrushka. It will make you feel better.
Anyway, I'm doing you a favor. We'll all need to speak Russian soon.

We'll all need to speak Russian soon. See, all us country hicks stockpiling weapons were right in the first place. Putin may waltz into NYC, Mordor and the Left Coast, but the rest of the country won't be so easy. So there! Wolverines!!!!!!

On this part from Don's linked article:
If lifting the sanctions/being less hawkish is a good idea, then who cares "why" they're doing it? Serious question. If the sanctions are lifted, it will enrich Exxon no matter if the lifting was for that reason or whatever reason the author thinks makes it a good idea.
But I'm not sure lifting the sanctions is a good idea. Mostly because they were put there in the first place by a President whose judgments I trust for the most part (me not being a foreign policy expert).
There's Crimea and Syria, and Putin is by all accounts a power-hungry, less-than-moral, dictator type. Seems like he needs to be held "in check" though I don't know how that should be accomplished. It would be nice to read something without a partisan slant on this whole subject.

It would be nice to read something without a partisan slant on this whole subject. I don't know that there is a non-partisan slant. I recently ready Gary Kasparov's Winter is Coming. Kasparov is in no way non-partisan (he basically wants us to go to war against Putin). Aside from his willingness to see America spill its blood to save the Crimea and Ukraine, it is an interesting read on Putin and what he's done to Russia from a Russian perspective.
