Now, now. He did tweet "HAPPY EASTER" in all caps right before he went on his idiotic "them liberals and illegals are ruinin' muh country" rant.
That sort of counts, right?

@cassandraw, while it's true Amazon gives USPS a buttload of business, USPS loses money on every single package they deliver for Amazon, at least if they operate true to form. The USPS lost $2.7 billion in 2015. If Amazon is getting the same break most corporations get, then taxpayers are indeed getting screwed. There's some substance here. (bolding mine) Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

derail?
The post office has been annoying the f**k out of me lately. Recently, they lost a package I mailed to a client. Didn't get to him; didn't come back to me. Just *poof* nowhere.
In our building we dealt with a postal worker mixing up mail in our boxes. This went on for around 10 years. Admittedly, we didn't complain, and no one else did as far as I know, so perhaps that is why the guy remained employed for so long.
I have never had a single issue with FedEx or UPS. They cost more, but after this last episode, I am 100% certain it's worth it.
That is all.

continued derail/
You can actually pay more at the post office to get tracking, overnight shipping, etc. Did you?
People tend to expect that they'll get comparable service from the post office as UPS and Fed-Ex at half (or substantially less than half) the cost. UPS and Fed Ex won't deliver anything for 49 cents.
(To note, if this particular derail continues, I may move it to its own thread. This thread is for surreal political batshittery, which I'm certain we're nowhere near done with).

Okay so I'm done with the derail but I had to say one more thing - wonder of wonders, the package was received by the client on Friday; he had forgotten to tell me! It took three weeks so it obviously did get lost (it was 2-3 day Priority Mail, which has tracking) but I don't even care. I'm so glad I don't have to redo the whole thing. Aaaaand I feel kinda bad for ranting about the USPS in general. Apologies for interrupting the reporting of the batshittery. Please do carry on, it's the best.

This thread shall end only with the batshittery or my bannination. the latter, alas, is far more likely than the former, the way things are going!

Well. Trump invited Putin over to the White House. I mean, it's not like our intelligence agencies unanimously agree that the Russians cyber hacked us...or that Congress overwhelmingly voted for yuuuuuuge sanctions on the Russians...or that the Russians have been poisoning people on British soil... I mean, what's to get in the way of a perfectly good bromance? www.washingtonpost.com/world/trump-proposed-putin-visit-white-house-in-march-20-phone-call-kremlin-says/2018/04/02/b0727634-367b-11e8-acd5-35eac230e514_story.htmlYou know what's fun? Our press learned this from a Kremlin announcement. Sarah Huckabee Sanders only confirmed it -- the White House did not announce it, nor did Trump Tweet about it. <iframe width="11.199999999999989" height="4.199999999999989" style="position: absolute; width: 11.2px; height: 4.2px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 0px; top: 0px;" id="MoatPxIOPT2_38580204" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="11.199999999999989" height="4.199999999999989" style="position: absolute; width: 11.2px; height: 4.2px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 498px; top: -179px;" id="MoatPxIOPT2_89560600" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="11.199999999999989" height="4.199999999999989" style="position: absolute; width: 11.2px; height: 4.2px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 0px; top: -24px;" id="MoatPxIOPT2_69645217" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="11.199999999999989" height="4.199999999999989" style="position: absolute; width: 11.2px; height: 4.2px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 498px; top: -24px;" id="MoatPxIOPT2_30683988" scrolling="no"></iframe>

I guess the White House infrastructure guy just couldn't take the non-stop excitement that was infrastructure week...

A completely overblown bit of news from yesterday: that Trump remains under investigation by Mueller, but is not currently a criminal target. I've seen mass hysteria on both sides about this one -- on the right, glee and rejoicing, on the left, despair and tea leaf reading. In fact, neither glee nor despair is warranted -- this is in fact a nothingburger. This actually isn't really news; it's what we legal times have assumed was the case with the investigation at this point. I was going to do a law-splainer on why, but my beloved Popehat did it for me, bless his heart. If you've been feeling either joy or despair, or if you've just been trying to figure out what it means that Trump isn't currently a criminal target but is still a subject of the investigation, here you go. www.popehat.com/2018/04/04/what-it-means-that-trump-is-only-a-subject/

My beloved Popehat on why the raid on Cohen's offices is a really big deal (article attached to tweet).
