This story starts with Maxine Waters tweeting, "get ready for impeachment" in response to the recent revelations about FBI investigating Trump campaign links to Russia. But for me, the real fun begins when it gets to Feinstein and her comments in talking to anti-Trump protestors. To paraphrase: Protestor: "Trump violates the Constitution every day. How do we get him out?" DF: "Many people looking into things. I can't say anymore, but I think he'll get himself out." Not "we should impeach him", or "we need to figure out how to fight this", but "I think it will happen, and he'll bring it on himself". Pretty quietly said, and calmly, for such a bold statement.

The Secret Service is neither a secret, nor a service. Discuss.

And how the hell can his party continue to support his perpetual, cataclysmic tantrum?
Never mind sheep; the Republicans look like they've become the party of lemmings.

I think it's fair enough to acknowledge that heroes are flawed (to say the least), and there's been a large dose of ambivalence in this thread - it's kind of the crux of the discussion. Me and Bobby D, by Everything but the Girl

Meh. You sometimes have to separate the artist from the art. Nobody *has* to separate the artist from the art. It's possible to appreciate Berry's music and not excuse his creepiness - just the same as one can acknowledge, say, JFK or Bill Clinton for their statesmanship and condemn their philandering. Or consider Ezra Pound's poetry without ignoring his political views. But there are any number of rock and pop songs with creepy-ish lyrics or titles: Whole Lotta Love; Tonight's the Night; You're Sixteen, You're Beautiful, and You're Mine... any song that refers to the love interest as "little girl" skeeves me out. And seriously -- how did that Blind Faith album cover ever get issued? I don't think enjoying the music equates to condoning the gross behaviour - Rock and Roll (Part 2) is still a cool tune, but I'm a lot less likely to pull out a Gary Glitter album now. That's me; YMMV.

Whenever I hear Chuck Berry's music, I do remember the creepy stuff. I'm sure there are people whose horrid conduct I overlook, or at least should be less tolerant - in music, politics, and whatever. I tend to give some slack when the person's served time and indicated repentance, even for truly horrid things (say, with Michael Vick) -- whereas if they've been caught and blame the victims, I write them off (say, with Rolf Harris).
We laughed about My Ding-A-Ling in fifth grade. I certainly didn't appreciate the creepy implications of it at the time. Of course, I was naive back then; I changed my horoscope sign from Virgo to Leo, because I knew that a virgin was a bad thing to be, but I had no idea why -- which greatly amused my parents.
Anyway, yes, Hail! Hail! But also, yuck.

Not ignoring; just don't know what to say. It's not new with Trump, of course, though sources say hate crimes are on the rise. The Nazis marched in Skokie - sort of - in 1977, and David Duke's been a serial pest for decades. I'm not on board, though, with generalisations about Jewish values re: education and parsimony. But isn't success and sticking it to the tax man exactly what many Trump supporters like about their man? Hmmm.

Funnily enough, a few months back, in the course of a Facebook thread, I referred to Trump as "the fake Gucci handbag version of Berlusconi".
Sigh.

These are the things that disturb me the most - that doesn't mean they surprise me the most.
What would surprise me is how these people manage to convince themselves that Trump is a champion of Christianity, when he's about the least Christian personality you could imagine.
And there, I believe, is the rub: it's not about agreeing with the man. It's about common enemies. It won't matter how much he double-crosses them, or how bad things get for them, as long as they still have The Enemy to blame for it all.
So I'm not so confident that the tide is really going to turn against Trump. Not to say it isn't worth trying. But who's actually going to lead the charge? So far, he gets away with everything by spinning more BS. Every time, we think, "This has GOT to be the last straw" -- just before he drops another bale.
