Trump on border wall: Mexico will pay us backI shall be very interested indeed, as a lawyer and a citizen, to see Trump's attempts to make Mexico pay for his wall. (You may gather from this that I believe US taxpayers will ultimately eat any expenditure his administration makes on this venture. You may also gather that I believe that money could be much better spent.)

On frisbee golf courses?
Don't get me wrong, I think it's a boneheaded project. But for those who believe the government can and should create jobs, this is as good a project as any other...

Perhaps to save costs Trump can employ undocumented workers who'll work more cheaply. He may be able to pick a few up along the border. Frisbee golf courses sound oodles more fun than a border wall.

But for those who are good economists, who see both the short and long-term impact of economic decisions, I'd rather he just had them dig holes and fill them back in. It would have the same non-productive impact on the economy, it would be just as inflationary, but we wouldn't end up with all the environmental impacts, the massive waste of physical resources being poured into the wall, pissed-off neighbors to the south, and a president channeling the worst idiocy of 1960's Soviet Union. With all his bullshit talk about trade wars and tariffs, the economic walls that Trump's planning will have a far, far more serious impact on the standard of living in the US (and indeed, worldwide) than a bunch of bricks piled along an imaginary property line. OTOH, with a new version of the Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act, it's quite possible that Trump could turn "The Great Recession" into "The World's Most Greatest Fabulous Depression EVAR!" and Trump's all about superlatives. Even negative ones, I suppose.

Hawley-Smoot. Hence the expression "holy smoot!"*
* Joking, of course. Smoot-Hawley is right because Smoot's the Senator.

That's awesome. (And IMO correct -- if the wall happens, we'll be paying for it. And so we should, by the way. If Canada erected a giant wall, would we be willing to pay for it?)
Perhaps henceforth all foreign policy will be conducted via Twitter.

Perhaps henceforth all foreign policy will be conducted via Twitter. I think you're on to something here. Not only would it assure transparency, 140 characters per agreement would also possibly make foreign policy comprehensible again.

It would certainly force them to cut out the pork and focus on essentials.
Say, Congress should conduct discussions by Twitter, too.

Then they could live in their home districts, where they'd actually have to face their constituents, and we could turn the Capitol building into an ice-skating rink. It would make the whole lobbying thing a lot tougher, too.

Twitter -- the answer to draining the swamp. Write a learned paper. I'll co-sign and we'll both be famous.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Trump delivered his state of the union addresses via Twitter?

Now if only legislation could be restricted to a 140-character limit...

How hard is it to get Mexico to pay for the wall?
Just have Trump promise to stay on this side.
Sucks for us, but it'll work.
Hell. Canada will probably build a wall too.
I'm surprised the Mexicans didn't rush to the border to start one on November 9th.
