I know I feel reassured. And it's good he wandered back for that handshake.
Where do you think he was going, anyway? I'm thinking maybe they put out tacos on the buffet table or something.

Trump's whole "I never mentioned the word Israel" line is unbelievably moronic, even for him.
Did anyone say he did mention Israel by name when he was talking to the Russians?
Israel, for very obvious reasons, would never want to officially confirm or deny that they were in fact the source of the intel. For Trump to go to Israel and stand in a room with Netanyahu and blurt out "I never mentioned the word Israel" is really the closest we could realistically get to a confirmation that Israel was in fact the source of the intel. It's a classic case of "the lady doth protest too much, methinks."
*facepalm*

God, he looked exhausted and totally out of it. Traveling overseas and having to be on the ball all the time is certainly exhausting. I've done some work internationally where I had to hop off an international flight at dawn, quickly clean up, head straight to an all-day meeting, work well into the night, and keep it up for a week or two. It isn't easy. But it is an inherent part of the presidential package. I read somewhere that Trump doesn't like spending the night away from one of his homes -- during the campaign, he always returned to one of them to sleep. And he doesn't like strange food, either. If that is the case, doing these trips will be doubly difficult for him. Trump's whole "I never mentioned the word Israel" line is unbelievably moronic, even for him. Did anyone say he did mention Israel by name when he was talking to the Russians? Israel, for very obvious reasons, would never want to officially confirm or deny that they were in fact the source of the intel. It's a classic case of "the lady doth protest too much, methinks." *facepalm* Yeah. He doesn't seem to get that whether he specifically named Israel or not isn't the problem -- and if it were, his repeatedly saying publicly "I never said it was Israel!" only makes things worse. The best thing to do at this point is move on. ETA: I think this is one big problem of having a president with zero experience in either the military or public office. Trump really just doesn't get why you can't just blurt stuff -- he has no natural inkling for discretion and diplomacy, and never acquired the experience that would have enabled him to develop such instincts. I don't think business experience quite translates, and particularly not Trump's. Basically, he owns some big family businesses of which he was the boss. If he flubbed, it was all on him. He wasn't going to get fired or held accountable by bosses. Perhaps if he'd worked his way through the ranks of an international corporation, forced to prove himself to higher-ups as well as perform, until he finally became the head, the experience might translate a bit better. Learning to schmooze and impress the higher ups, making allies among your peers, staying a step ahead of competitors in your ranks, plus leading thise below you -- that requires a certain degree of diplomacy and subtlety. Running your own business requires you to schmooze clients, but you can pretty much forget what anyone else thinks of your leadership skills. You're the boss. Being president really isn't like that at all.
