It pains me to say it, but the broad point Hannity made wasn't wrong. Blaming it on Obama was, but the point in general was correct.

Good artists create. Great artists steal.
Wow, guess that means Lana Del Rey is great.....

Sigh. I think the Deep State is to blame, myself. Buckle in for some stupid, folks. Gotta love Alex Jones! Its all the short sellers making a fortune and algorithms attached to the volatility index funds triggering auto sells that are killing things right now.

Its going to be even better at the opening tomorrow when the retail stock holders call their brokers and hit the sell button. Its going to hit the 23.5k level before it starts to stabilize and some people are going to be losing their heads. Wait until Apple hits 150, Boeing hits 315, or Microsoft hits ~82 and buy. You can thank me in December* *unless I'm totally wrong, then you don't know me and I don't know you.

To the extent you were looking at the stock market and your 401K as a reason to overlook Trump's Trumpishness, you're going to have to fall back on "But Gorsuch." If this correction crushed your 401k or portfolio, a new financial adviser is needed. A ~7% change over past week doesn't mean much when the consensus is and has been there is closer to a 10% over-valuation. Stocks still returned ~30% on average last year and have been on a rampage since 2013 and a strong upward trend since 2009. Anyone who thought Trump was responsible for gains or losses (or really any President for that matter) doesn't know much about the market.

Just some quick points without getting too much in depth:
1. MS-13 is a problem. Whether Trump exaggerated how many members have been sent to prison or deported doesn't really matter. Acknowledging the problem and addressing it is a good thing.
2. Major mistake (as all politicians make) in linking the opioid crisis to actual drug dealers. Dealers are now and always have been a symptom of the problem. They are a response to a demand, not a cause. The opioid crisis has a very banal beginning: the fact that pain is a thing in the healthcare field now. Like an actual condition, very close to an actual diagnosis. Thus is it treated and often treated aggressively. This creates otherwise "normal" people with an addiction to prescription painkillers with no adequate follow up support through the healthcare field.
3. ISIS is being defeated. While I have said before Trump does not have a lot to do with this it is no surprise he takes credit for it. Anyone who is President at this time would.
4. The stock market is roaring. Again, not a lot to do with Trump, but nor is it surprising he takes credit for it. Anyone who is President at this time would.
5. The tax cuts. The biggest knock is that they will expire for the middle class while they will not for the wealthy. If I thought this would remain until 2027, I'd be more concerned. But whoever comes along after Trump is going to do something with taxes that half the people will love and half the people will hate. Raise or cut. Pretty much the pattern since time immemorial. The fact is the corporate tax cut DID generate some wage increases and bonuses. None of this is permanent, but we live in an instant gratification society. People will take their $1k bonus and not think about 10 years down the road. I think this will resonate with the general population more than many believe.
As for the Democratic response....I found it rather flimsy. I won't go into it, but it always gives me a chuckle when a young man from one of the most privileged and powerful families in the history of the nation tells us how shameful the income gap is.

-- robeaie and prozyan thought it was not a good speech, though certainly not as bad as some people are making it out to be, and that SOTU addresses aren't very important and everyone will forget about it in two days anyway.I actually thought it was a pretty good speech. The bolded part is 100% accurate though.

And here's the thing -- we all remember the Starr investigation. Bill Clinton was nabbed for fibbing about a consensual blowjob, not for any of the stuff that investigation initially sought to uncover. I don't think there is really a lot to the whole Russian collusion angle. Its just too hard to prove anything and all current evidence points to maybe something inappropriate (engaging in diplomatic talks while the President Elect) but not illegal. As for influencing the election I think that is a no go unless they can show actual voter suppression or actual hacking of voter machines or the like. In other words, I don't think propaganda is going to cut it. I think the best bet is the obstruction of justice charge at this point. And I don't have a lot of faith in that. Bottom line, I think if anything comes out against Trump from this investigation, it will be something that wasn't an original reason for the investigation.

Why do Republicans win elections? Because Democrats can't get their shit together....as evidenced by this latest debacle.

I'm looking at this picture trying to think of a caption and my 13 yr. old daughter looks over my shoulder and proclaims "Trump looks really special in that hat. Hopefully he is talking to a therpist."
Works for me.

Gotta side with the Dems here, or perhaps more accurately side against the Republican leadership. I do not really blame Trump all that much. Everyone knows what Trump is: a loud mouthed infant with no true political power. It is the Republican leadership that for some unfathomable reason continues to kowtow to him rather than doing their job. When their actions make Rand freaking Paul seem reasonable there is serious dysfunction going on. I cannot understand the reasoning to not oppose Trump. A half breathing Republican candidate should be able to knock Trump out of the primary next year and angering Trump's base is not something any politician should fear.
On another subject, Trump deserves zero credit for the current beast mode of a stock market we are enjoying right now. The only credit that could possibly be given to him concerning it is that he has stayed the hell out of the way and not screwed it up.
The situation with ISIS, however, I will give him some credit, but it is in the same vein as credit for the stock market. The recent success against ISIS has come as a result of direct control being returned to the commanders on the ground rather than being centralized in Washington. In other words the conflict is no longer being micro managed from Washington as it was under the Obama administration. The credit Trump gets is, like the stock market, for not getting directly involved and screwing it up.

Also, the simplest answer would be Jeb Bush isn't really 6"3. Ben Carson is 6' and Jeb seems to be slightly more than 3" taller. Chris Christie is 5"11 and that seems about right when compared to Carson. And here are all three together: But, I suppose it makes sense that Ben Carson could be lying about his height as well.... But I'll prefer to think that Jeb's height isn't correct rather than Trump has convinced an entire medical staff to lie about his height.

I've never once been measured at the DMV, but have been measured at every doctor's office I've been to. So I'll take the word from the medical profession over the impatient lady behind the DMV counter any day.
