What are people supposed to do? What most everyone else does who doesn't turn to panhandling: rely on help from friends and family, get a part time job, cut back on expenses, dip in to savings, etc. Note that unlike many others who go through temporary tough times, these federal workers are still getting healthcare coverage. And many are eligible to collect unemployment, though they may have to pay those monies back if they end up receiving back pay. Speaking of which, how many of those GoFundMe accounts will refund the money they collect if--or more accurately when--they go back to work and get a check for their back pay. And again, it's been 25 days. If you aren't living paycheck-to-paycheck, or you never have, then what gives you or any of these conservative reactionaries the gall to dump on others for turning to the charity of good people instead of food stamps and welfare from the government? You're denigrating the lives of others you don't know a thing about. That's just arrogant. Read my posts. I did, and you still sound as clueless, as out of touch, and as elitist as Wilbur Ross. Minus the billions of dollars, but still just as elitist, out of touch and clueless. And let me add heartless.

Lol, no you didn't. But it's all good. Yes, actually I did. You just don't like being called out for it. That's not my problem. You seem to be belaboring under the unfortunate delusion that anyone who disagrees with you must not have read what you wrote. You really should see someone about that. Seek professional help. Maybe there's an app you can download or so.
There's nothing good about making 800,000 people go a second payday without a paycheck. People are going to lose homes, can't pay their bills or mortgage or rent. Those things don't stop when there's a shutdown. They just keep coming. There is real suffering inflicted by Trump's hostage crisis and that's what you voted for. I sincerely hope than in 2020 there are 800,000 extra votes for the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
I've had it with the entire Trump Shitshow and that goes double for every Trump supporter, lackey, flunky, groupie and cult member. Every last one of these motherfuckers need to be evicted from the White House, dumped in a landfill and once they're out fumigate the joint. Enough of this incompetence, venality, corruption, collusion, stupidity, cruelty and fuckery.

And if this ass-whipping is a Trump's supporter idea of "winning" you're a loser too.

Caving twice in one week, huh? So much winning...

I'm happy that my friends will get paid. (At least I hope they'll get paid.) I'm especially worried about the friend with cancer. Even beyond the immediate financial pressures, this has been an additional load of anxiety and stress she and her family didn't need.
This morning, LaGuardia and Newark were apparently forced to halt and delay tons of flights because of the shutdown. I'm wondering if that was the final straw.

Trump didn't lose. Pelosi didn't lose. The only people that "lost" in this whole fiasco were the common folk.
As usual.

Neither Trump nor Pelosi lost money. But Trump lost face -- he held out for 35 days and didn't get his wall funding. Polls are showing that he especially suffered (and not just among the disgruntled -- some in his base are unhappy, and will be more so because they aren't getting their precious wall. He's not looking like much of a deal-maker here. Overwhelmingly, people blamed the GOP over Democrats on this one -- I'm guessing not only because Trump declared on TV that he owned this shutdown, but also because it was pretty well-known that Democrats and Republicans had unanimously agreed on a spending bill before Trump stuck his fat thumbs into it -- and that Mitch McConnell then refused to allow a vote on that exact same spending package. Go ahead and say "Oh, Nancy should have conceded" -- but you can't walk away from that. Her position remained the same all the way through, and it was good with Republicans -- until Trump got involved. And the fact remains that a large majority of the country does not want the freaking wall, so that was reaaaaallllly not going to be a popular thing to hold the government hostage over.
So yeah, the common folk lost bigly. But Trump and the GOP also lost.

According to that page, just over 50% of people blame Trump. Just over 30% of people blame Democrats (and I'm guessing that is likely to be hard-core Trumpers who want the wall). I think it's fair to add the percentage blaming Trump and the percentage blaming Republicans together on one side. That page also notes that Independents increasingly blame Trump. Who is the bigger loser here? I think it's clear.

Who is the bigger loser here? I think it's clear. Trump (at least for now). I'm just noting the divergence in terms of blame put on Trump vs the GOP in Congress. It doesn't really seem fair to me, given that the GOP in Congress had punted on this issue when they still had a majority. But it is what it is, I guess.

Maybe the poll made you choose, rather than blaming both.
I actually point a finger at Mitch McConnell for no allowing a vote. I understand a number of his GOP colleagues would have ended this a while ago if he had. It's not like they were miles apart-- they'd actually had an agreement.

Possibly. But not because Trump gives a damn about canceled and delayed flights, extra long lines and waiting times for flyers, or tired air traffic controllers working 10-hrs a day for six days without pay. I'm of the notion Resident Trump caved like a wussburger with extra wuss sauce because there's a little football game being played in Atlanta next week and with ads going for $5 million dollars, neither the city, the NFL or Corporate America wants to fuck around with that kind of cheddar. Trump bends the knee to only one God (two, if you're counting Putin) and that's the God of Money. You listen to a twisted little wankrag like Wilbur Ross babbling about federal employees taking out loans from the bank or Trump babbling like the idiot he is how grocery stores will work with you so you can get your food on credit and you swiftly realize neither of these assholes have any idea what it means to be not know where your next meal is coming from or how you are going to pay for it. These dumb shits seems to think America is living in a '50's black and white TV sitcom! Well, I'm not and neither are 800,000 workers, but these two dumb shits sure are. They can both eat a bag of dicks. Trump didn't lose. Pelosi didn't lose. The only people that "lost" in this whole fiasco were the common folk. As usual. Yeah, I'm calling "bullshit" on that. Nancy Pelosi didn't say she was proud to shutdown the government. Trump did. Nancy Pelosi offered Congressional votes to reopen the government. Trump kept it closed for over a month. Nancy Pelosi didn't give in to Trump when she said he couldn't give the State of the Union address to Congress because she revoked his invitation to speak until the government was open for business again. Trump gave in and got nothing for it. Nancy Pelosi didn't back off her pledge not to give one thin dime for Trump's Lego wall. Trump backed off his repeated claims he would never cave. If you don't see Pelosi as a winner of this tragedy and Trump the clear loser, then you might want to either clean your glasses or get some, prozyan, because if Trump didn't lose, then why are so many Righties coming for his ass? Here's why:

What with Roger Stone getting indicted, this was a very bad, terrible, no good day for The Donald.
I'd say I feel bad for him, but lying is wrong.
